ACReSAL MISSION: STRONGER PARTNERSHIPS, BETTER RESULTS FOR FOOD SECURITY

How can restoring degraded land help secure Nigeria’s food future? And how can government agencies work together to achieve greater impact?

These questions took centre stage on Day 2 of the ongoing ACReSAL work plan finalization and Project Implementation Manual review.

The Federal Government and the World Bank are calling for stronger collaboration among government agencies and participating states to ensure that investments in land restoration, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable water management translate into tangible benefits for communities.

Speaking at the session, World Bank Task Team Leader, Dr. Iganya Joy Agene, emphasized the need for agencies to work together rather than in isolation.

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security also highlighted the importance of connecting project interventions to measurable improvements in agricultural productivity, farmers’ livelihoods and food security.

Other key discussions focused on environmental and social safeguards, alongside a review of Strategic Catchment Management Plans to strengthen coordination and prioritize interventions.

With a proposed $500 million in additional financing under consideration, the focus remains on making every investment count.

What does this mean for the future of ACReSAL and the communities it serves?
