Specific Environmental challenges in Benue Sate
Specific environmental challenges in Benue state cut across deforestation, erosion, flooding, land degradation, effects of climate change including drying up of some streams among others.
Dry land Management
Community Strengthening
At this initial stage of implementation, the project is carrying out community strengthening by formation or strengthening inclusive community groups, community sensitization, agro-climatic resilience training and participatory information dissemination.
This is supported by the Focal Non-Governmental Organization (FoNGO) whose responsibilities include Support State Project Management Unit (SPMU) Advocacy, Sensitization Activities and Conflict Resolution across the Intervention Sites.
Institutional Strengthening
The Benue SPMU has been involved with various World Bank Trainings and Missions including;
- 11-Days Technical/Work and Procurement Plan Workshop, Oriental Hotel, Lagos State – 3rd-14th August, 2022.
- 10-Days Hybrid Implementation Support Mission/Workshop, Bristol Palace Hotel, Kano State – 10th-20th October, 2022.
- 7-Days Hybrid Workshop/Clinic on M&E/GIS/MIS, Hayatt Regency Suites, Kastina State – 7th -14th December, 2022.
- Another Mission was hosted by the World Bank for the 2023 Calendar Year Result-Based Procurement Planning and Capacity Building Clinic, Reitz Continental, Central Business District, Abuja: 23rd-26th January, 2023.
Recently Benue ACReSAL team participated in missions/workshops on Safe Guard instruments, Financial management, Leadership Skills and Remote Sensing/GIS use in project management organized by the World Bank.
