Members of the Benue ACReSAL Team went for a reconnaise survey of the Mbaav II Forest in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. Mbaav II Forest is a 4Km Sqaure gazetted State Government forest that was left virgin with a few trees planted at the four corners of the forest.
This forest holds the potential for massive afforestation and agroforestry. The Benue State GIS Specialist Surv. Joel Omirim flew the Benue ACReSAL drone over the forest to capture relevant information and data about the forest.
Engaging members of the community around, the Project’s Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist Engr. Samson Naakaa informed them the ACReSAL Project’s intervention in the Mbaav II Forest would draw numerous benefits to the host community including uplifting their livelihood. Engr. Samson Naakaa also stressed the need for the community to support the project and always discourage activities like bush burning that would destroy the flora and fauna in the forest.
He urged the community to own the project and promised that they would be carried along and engaged throughout the intervention. The villagers were ecstatic about the possibility of receiving assistance from the ACReSAL Project for the many challenges that they face in the rural area and promised to assist the project in achieving its objectives.
