The Benue State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project has taken a major step toward enhancing climate resilience and sustainable water management with the official opening of bids for two critical infrastructure projects, the Achusa Flood and Erosion Control Works and the Adoka Icho Water Conservation Structure.

The bid opening ceremony was today, presided over by the Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, and Chairman of the ACReSAL State Steering Committee, Odoh Ugwu who assured representatives of the bidding companies of a transparent, fair, and accountable procurement process in line with international best practices.

He reiterated the unwavering commitment of the administration of governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia to environmental sustainability and climate-responsive development, noting that, tackling the persistent flooding challenges in Achusa remains a key priority for the state, while the Adoka Icho Water Conservation Structure is expected to provide long-term relief to communities grappling with water scarcity.

A total of four companies submitted bids for the projects, with participants commending the openness and professionalism that defined the exercise.

Delivering the closing remarks on behalf of the State Project Coordinator, Victor Ama, the Project Engineer, Bemsen Iorwua, encouraged bidders to maintain professionalism and sportsmanship throughout the process, noting that only one contractor would ultimately emerge successful.
