Monitoring for Impact as Benue ACReSAL Strengthens Community-Based Projects in Vandeikya and Ushongo LGAs

The State Project Coordinator (SPC) of Benue ACReSAL, Bldr. Victor Ama, led the State Project Management Unit (SPMU) on a monitoring visit to key project sites in Vandeikya and Ushongo Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to ensure effective implementation and long-term sustainability of project interventions.

The visit covered the Tenera Palm Plantations across both LGAs and the Community Fish Training Center in Ihugh. These monitoring activities are crucial to the project’s success, as they offer a direct assessment of progress, identification of challenges, and validation of outcomes on the ground. Field visits also enable the SPMU to strengthen technical supervision, improve service delivery, and ensure that project objectives align with community realities.

The Tenera Palm Plantations were acknowledged as strategic investments in agribusiness and rural economic development, with the potential to create sustainable income for farmers, enhance food security, and promote environmentally responsible land use practices. In the same vein, the Community Fish Training Center in Ihugh was highlighted as a vital capacity-building hub that supports skills development in aquaculture, youth engagement, and diversification of livelihoods.

Beyond project inspection, the SPC engaged extensively with community members and beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of community ownership as a foundation for sustainability. He encouraged residents to take responsibility for protecting and maintaining project assets, noting that lasting impact can only be achieved when communities actively participate in managing and sustaining interventions.

The visit further reinforced the principles of accountability, stakeholder engagement, and participatory development. By fostering strong collaboration between the SPMU, local authorities, and beneficiaries, the project continues to build trust, enhance transparency, and promote inclusive development. Overall, the monitoring exercise reaffirmed ACReSAL’s commitment to sustainable livelihoods, resilient communities, and long-term environmental and socio-economic impact in Benue State.
