Members of the Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Monday, paid a familiarization visit to the Benue State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) at the project office in Makurdi.

Addressing the State Project Management Unit led by the State Project coordinator, Bldr. Victor Ama, the Chairman of the Committee and a member, representing Guma State constituency, Hon. Peter Terwase Uche, explained that the visit was to provide the committee with an in-depth understanding of the nature, scope, activities, and challenges of Benue ACReSAL.




He added that the familiarisation visit underscores the commitment to engage with and support Ministries, Departments, and Agencies within the legislative purview of the committee that are working for the common good of Benue people and also provides valuable insights that will inform the legislative measures and decisions regarding ACReSAL project back at the House of Assembly.



A member of the committee and representative of Tiev State constituency, Hon. Matthew Damkor, applauded the State Project Coordinator and ACReSAL for the good work they are doing in the state and judicious use of resources, and urged for sustenance. He promised sustained collaboration with the project to ensure that the Project Development Goal of ACReSAL is achieved for the empowerment of Benue people.





Responding, the State Project coordinator, Bldr. Victor Ama thanked the Chairman and members of the Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on SDGs for the visit, highlighting the mandate of ACReSAL and projects being executed so far.
He urged the honourable members to expedite action on the release of counterpart fund captured in the state’s budget for the Project, which will assist in the implementation of the Project’s activities.
