Benue State Takes Steps to Map and Protect Forest Reserves with ACReSAL Project

A crucial step towards sustainable landscape management and natural resource protection in Benue State was taken today with the presentation of a report on the Surveying, Mapping and Gazetting of Forest Reserves.

The report, commissioned by the Benue State Project Management Unit (SPMU) of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, was presented by a consultant from Reliance Investment and Building Technology at the Project office conference hall.

The State Project Coordinator Bldr. Victor Ama emphasized the significance of the initiative, highlighting its role in helping the Benue State government effectively manage its valuable natural resources. He reiterated that supporting sustainable landscape management practices to mitigate climate change’s impact is a core objective of the ACReSAL Project.

Following the consultant’s detailed presentation, members of the SPMU actively participated in the discussion, providing valuable input and feedback. The event also saw key stakeholders’ attendance and contribution, including the Directors of Forestry and Environment from the State Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change.

This undertaking marks a significant advancement in Benue State’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development, paving the way for more effective management of its forest reserves and a resilient response to the challenges of climate change.
