The State Project Coordinator (SPC) of the Benue State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project, Bldr. Victor Ama has been awarded the prestigious Nelson Mandela Pan African Leadership Prize for Integrity and Transparency by the Stay Africa Youth Development Initiative (SAYDI-AFRICA).

The award recognizes Bldr. Ama’s exceptional leadership and the significant achievements of the ACReSAL project in Benue State.




Presenting the award to the Project Coordinator today in his office on behalf of the organization, the Vice President of SAYDI-AFRICA, Austine Kaussi lauded Ama embodying humility, hard work, and dedication, highlighting his leadership style as instrumental in the project’s success.



According to the award presenters, the ACReSAL project in Benue State has achieved remarkable progress under Ama’s guidance, including the implementation of solar-powered boreholes, solar streetlights, and water harvesting structures as well as the recent desilting of drainages in Makurdi, widespread afforestation and reforestation activities, and crucial livelihood support programmes for vulnerable groups across the state.



Accepting the award, SPC Victor Ama expressed his gratitude to SAYDI-AFRICA for recognizing the efforts of the ACReSAL project and attributed the project’s success to the unwavering support of the State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia and Honourable Commissioners of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change and that of Agriculture and Food Security.
“This award is a direct result of our collaborative spirit, shared vision, and unwavering support of one another,” Ama stated, emphasizing the collective efforts of the State Project Management Unit (SPMU).
He continued, “I am fortunate to work alongside passionate individuals who continually inspire me to grow and improve. Together we have faced challenges, celebrated victories, and created a workplace culture that values innovation and excellence,”
The award serves as a testament to the positive impact of the ACReSAL project on the Benue State community and the team’s dedication under Bldr. Victor Ama’s leadership.
