Benue ACReSAL Partners with Communities for Greener Future, Distributes Farm Implements

Benue State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project is actively engaging with local communities in Katsina Ala to establish Tenera Palm plantations,  to bolster environmental sustainability, and improve social welfare.

Representing State Project Coordinator, Bldr. Victor Ama, the Social Livelihood Officer, Anna Okoh led an ACReSAL team to Mbajibo, Anda Kur, and Ityough Aweve communities in the Mbajibo Kindred, Mbacher Council Ward, Katsina Ala.

These communities had approached the ACReSAL project seeking support for establishing Tenera Palm plantations on their communal land. This initiative follows a vigorous campaign by Benue ACReSAL, encouraging communities to donate communal land for project interventions focused on “greening the environment.” The Tenera Palm plantations are envisioned as a key step towards environmental sustainability and improved livelihoods within the participating communities.

Beyond the new plantation efforts, the ACReSAL team also visited communities where the project has already intervened through afforestation programmes. During these visits, vital farm implements were distributed to workers in forest reserves and afforestation sites within Vandeikya and Ushongo Local Government Areas.

These tools will significantly aid in maintaining and expanding the existing afforestation projects, further contributing to Benue State’s environmental goals. These combined efforts highlight Benue ACReSAL’s commitment to working collaboratively with communities to combat environmental degradation and promote sustainable development across the state.
