The Benue State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources has commended the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project for its significant interventions across the state.


The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Shimawua Terna gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to the State Project Coordinator (SPC), Bldr. Victor Ama, at his office in Makurdi. The visit, part of the committee’s oversight function, allowed members to gain a deeper understanding of the ACReSAL project’s objectives and impact.





Bldr. Ama briefed the committee on the project’s goals of promoting sustainable land management practices in targeted watersheds within Benue State and other areas of Northern Nigeria and ultimately improve livelihoods of local communities. “We are committed to improving the adoption of sustainable management practices,” Ama stated.





He further highlighted the various areas where ACReSAL has intervened within the state, outlining the positive changes already observed.He in turn, urged the committee members to encourage their constituents to actively participate in the project and take ownership of ACReSAL project sites within their respective constituencies.





Other Members of Committee including Hon. Ochekliye Agbo Isaac, Hon. Dugeri Thomas and Rt. Hon. Cephas Dyako expressed their appreciation for the project’s widespread impact, noting the visible improvements in numerous locations across the state. They lauded the ACReSAL’s positive contribution to the agricultural landscape and the potential for long-term sustainable development of Benue State.
