Towards the successful implementation of the Community Revolving Fund (CRF), the Benue ACReSAL Team engaged with selected Community Interest Groups (CIGs) in the two pioneer watersheds of Vandeikya and Makurdi in Benue State.
The State Project Coordinator, Bldr. Victor Ama urged the selected beneficiaries to take advantage CRF scheme to improve their livelihood and cautioned them to use the funds for the intended purposes which must be climate-smart and environmentally friendly. The SPC further emphasized that CRF is a loan and not a grant and must be used judiciously and paid back so that others can also enjoy the facility as it will keep revolving within their communities.
The training covered various topics including business management and bookkeeping, roles of Community Business Agents (CBAs), Local Government Project Management Communities (LGPMC) on CRF, sensitization of Community Revolving Fund Management Committee (CRFMC), Board of Trustees and their roles, Monitoring and Evaluation Process/Report Writing, preparations of Business Plans etc.
SPMU and FONGO Staff took turns to present the aforementioned topics to the participants. The interactive sessions drew participation from members of CIGs showcasing their understanding of the CRF Scheme and the roles of the CRFMC and BOTs. The members of the CIGs were glad that they were selected among the first beneficiaries of the CRF and promised to repay the loan in good time so that other CIGs in their communities would also benefit from it.
